Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Software Asset Optimization Owner within Enterprise Software Management (ESM) under Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI). You will own software asset governance, license compliance, and contract management across on‑prem, SaaS, and cloud environments.

You will work with product owners and vendors to optimize usage ahead of renewals, run audits, maintain records, and deliver compliance reporting while maintaining data quality and budgeting awareness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years with software assets in on-prem, SaaS, and/or cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of software license metrics and software contracts (entitlements, use rights, restrictions, audit clauses).
• Experience reading, interpreting, and operationalizing software license agreements and contract terms.
• Experience with SAM tools such as USU/Aspera, Flexera, SNOW, or SamPro.
• Familiarity with software discovery tools (e.g., ADDM, SCCM, Altiris) and/or inventory/CMDB systems.
• Experience with license harvesting and/or large-scale end-user surveys.
• Self-starter with initiative and proactive problem-solving.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative working style with the ability to build productive relationships with internal customers and partners

Responsibilities

• Manage software licensing, contracts, and inventory, including licensing models/terms and contract structures from major vendors.
• Create and deliver software compliance reporting, including trends and insights to support cost control and compliance.
• Maintain accurate software and contract records across repositories and license management systems; monitor changes and communicate impacts.
• Perform periodic internal compliance audits to reconcile entitlements against deployments and consumption across environments.
• Partner with software product owners to determine strategy and optimize usage ahead of maintenance renewals and contract negotiations.
• Project manage the contract renewal activity across teams to enable proactive actions and set follow-up dates.
• Ensure high levels of data quality in products and contracts assigned, with a data owner mindset.
• Possess a financial acumen around forecasting and budgeting.
• Identify and remediate license gaps when consumption exceeds entitlements; coordinate with product owners, Vendor Management, Sourcing, and Legal as needed.
• Collaborate with the Software Discovery team to ensure discovery tools detect software usage accurately.
• Own publisher-facing licensing items for assigned vendors and drive optimal outcomes for internal customers.
