Job summary

Familiar Machines & Magic is seeking a Softgoods Developer to join our Industrial Design team and help bring the Familiar’s physical embodiment to life. You will work across textiles, foams, elastomers, trims, and other soft materials from concept through production, coordinating with design, engineering, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing technically integrated softgoods from concept through production.
• Strong pattern making, sewing, bonding, and prototyping skills.
• Knowledge of textiles, foams, elastomers, trims, closures, and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Translate design intent into softgoods constructions that fit with hardware.
• Build and iterate hands-on prototypes to evaluate fit, motion, and tactile quality.
• Develop textiles, foams, elastomers, closures, trims, bonding processes for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with hardware engineering, operations, suppliers, and manufacturing partners through development and production.
• Carry softgoods solutions from prototype through supplier development and production with documentation.
