Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking a Soft Lines Merchandising Specialist to support the Donated Goods Program. You will sort donations, separate sellable items, and prepare merchandise for the sales floor, ensuring quality standards are met. Responsibilities include hanging clothing in size order, pricing per current guidelines, and maintaining a clean, safe backroom and display areas.

You will assist customers and donors with basic questions and donations. A high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication with individuals of diverse personalities.
• Retail sales experience preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and meet staffing needs.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Sort donations (clothing, linens, etc.) according to quality guidelines to maximize production.
• Hang sold goods in size order by department and price according to guidelines.
• Process donations in the backroom to prepare merchandise for the sales floor and ensure cost-effective handling.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and backroom area; assist with replenishment and store recovery.
• Greet customers and assist with basic questions about store operations and merchandise; assist donors as needed.
• Assist with unloading/donations and loading equipment; perform housekeeping and safety duties as required.
