Job summary

Hackensack Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Leader for Social Studies (grades 9-12) at Hackensack High School. This 2026-2027 school-year role includes coordinating professional learning, leading data-driven conversations, and guiding colleagues in instructional improvements.

The position reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and requires NJ instructional certification. It is a Title II, Part A-funded supplemental role with a 60-hour allocation at $57.85 per hour.

Qualifications

• Currently employed as a teacher in Hackensack Public Schools with a valid NJ instructional certificate.
• Solid knowledge of district curriculum and NJ Student Learning Standards.
• Experience analyzing student data and guiding instructional decisions.
• Understanding MTSS and differentiation for diverse learners.
• Ability to lead data conversations and professional learning sessions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues.
• Experience facilitating PLCs and collaborative planning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured data conversations using district protocols to assess student progress.
• Facilitate PLCs and collaborative planning across grade levels.
• Coordinate teacher leadership activities aligned with district initiatives.
• Prepare agendas, protocols, and professional learning materials.
• Maintain time records and document planning activities.
• Support MTSS implementation to strengthen Tier 1 instruction.
• Collaborate with Reading Specialists and special education staff as needed.
• Contribute to district improvement goals through data-informed practice.
