Job summary

Hackensack Public Schools seeks a Teacher Leader for English Language Arts for grades 9–12. This 60-hour, II, Part A-funded leadership assignment supports planning, data conversations, PLCs, and MTSS work at Hackensack High School.

They will guide colleagues in data analysis, lead professional learning, and coordinate instructional improvements with the ELA Department and district supervisors.

Qualifications

• Currently employed as a teacher in Hackensack Public Schools with a valid NJ instructional certificate.
• Strong knowledge of district curriculum and New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
• Experience with formative and summative assessments and data-informed planning.
• Ability to analyze student data and guide colleagues to instructional next steps.
• Understanding MTSS and how Tier 1–3 strategies connect to outcomes.
• Differentiated instruction to support multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff.
• Facilitation of professional learning communities and collaborative planning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and district MTSS procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage time effectively.
• Proven ability to coordinate meetings and share resources with district leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured data conversations using district protocols and schedules.
• Guide colleagues in analyzing achievement and growth data and determine next steps.
• Facilitate PLCs and collaborative planning aligned to district initiatives.
• Coordinate professional learning needs and report to instructional leadership.
• Support MTSS implementation through professional learning and data use.
• Prepare agendas, protocols, and materials for meetings and trainings.
• Capture educator feedback and communicate learning priorities to leadership.
• Ensure time records and documentation align with district expectations.
