Job summary

The Salvation Army Rochester Corps is seeking a Social Services Coordinator to provide direct support to program participants and recruit and deliver a full range of case management services for Pathway of Hope (POH) participants.

Wage range: $23 to $24.25 per hour, 40 hours a week. Responsibilities include case management, data maintenance, program promotion, and occasional events and food service, with standard business hours and some evening requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; combination of education and experience may be considered.
• If degree is in social work, must be licensed by state board.
• Previous social services experience required.
• Must pass background checks.
• Valid driver’s license preferred (MVR considerations).
• ServSafe certification required or obtainable within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and housing assessments, Heatshare, vouchers, and financial assistance (45%).
• Maintain participant information in casefiles and via database entry and reporting (25%).
• Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered case management for POH participants (10%).
• Assist with seasonal and special events (5%).
• Recruit POH participants and promote services within the community (5%).
• Occasionally assist with food preparation and meal service (5%).
• Engage in activities to promote The Salvation Army and POH goals (5%).

Job description

The Salvation Army Northern Division Rochester Corps Social Services Coordinator provides direct assistance to program participants. The Coordinator also recruits and provides a full range of case management services to Pathway of Hope (POH) participants. POH is responsible for providing targeted services to participants with a desire to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty.

Wage range: $23 to $24.25 per hour, 40 hours a week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)

• Provide participants with direct support and assistance (e.g., housing assessments, Heatshare, vouchers, financial assistance). (45%)
• Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry and internal reporting. (25%)
• Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered, holistic case management to POH participants. (10%)
• Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%)
• Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community. (5%)
• Occasionally assist with food preparation and meal service. (5%)
• Engage in internal and external activities to promote and further The Salvation Army and POH goals and objectives. (5%)

Education and Experience

• Associate degree in relevant field preferred. In lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered.

• ServSafe certification required or ability to gain certification within 90 days of employment (the organization will pay for the certification).

Working Conditions

• A variety of work including sitting, standing, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, and twisting.
• Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
• Must be able communicate clearly in English.
• Standard business hours with infrequent evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to occasionally lift 40 pounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared.
