Placements24 is seeking a Community Organiser to empower East London communities through fieldwork, organizing campaigns, and policy advocacy. The role blends hands-on community engagement with strategic planning and administrative tasks in a hybrid setting.

The ideal candidate will have a background in social sciences or related fields, strong leadership, communication, and a passion for social justice. Flexible hours and weekend work may be required to meet campaign needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in community organising, grassroots advocacy, or non-profit program management.
• Demonstrated ability to mobilise diverse groups and build effective coalitions.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage community stakeholders, leaders, and residents to build coalitions.
• Develop and implement strategic organising plans to address specific social justice issues.
• Organise and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and public forums.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers and community leaders.
• Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness and mobilise participation in campaigns.
• Build relationships with local government officials, community groups, and other relevant organisations in East London.
• Develop campaign materials, press releases, and digital content to support advocacy efforts.
• Track and report on organising progress, campaign outcomes, and community impact.
• Participate in policy advocacy efforts and represent the organisation at relevant forums.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
