Job description

The Door | idea house is a creative communications and marketing agency working at the intersection of culture, creativity and commerce. We specialize in consumer brands, fashion, beauty, sports, entertainment, celebrity and talent, lifestyle, hospitality, restaurants, food and beverage, spirits, real estate and social impact, partnering with established names, emerging businesses and influential personalities to build brands, spark conversation and drive meaningful business results.

Our work brings together public relations, social media, paid media, AEO, branded content, creator marketing, brand partnerships, experiential marketing and creative storytelling. We believe the most effective marketing doesn’t simply reach audiences, it becomes part of the conversations and culture that matter to them.

We are entrepreneurial by nature, collaborative by design and passionate about creating work that breaks through. We move quickly, think creatively, challenge conventions and take pride in delivering exceptional results for our clients.

We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We value curiosity, initiative, accountability and people who bring both big ideas and the determination to make them happen.

The Opportunity

The Door is looking for a Social Content Producer & Editor to join our social media team.

This is an opportunity for a highly creative, socially fluent content maker who loves capturing moments, telling stories and creating content that people actually want to watch.

We are looking for someone who can take a concept from idea to finished post, independently shooting, editing and producing compelling short‑form video and social content across a diverse portfolio of brands, businesses and personalities.

This is a hands‑on creative production role, not simply a production management or coordination position.

The ideal candidate understands what makes a great TikTok or Instagram Reel, has strong visual instincts, knows how to capture compelling content quickly and can edit with the pacing, storytelling and creativity that today’s social platforms demand.

You’ll work across a broad mix of industries including fashion, beauty, sports, entertainment, celebrity and talent, lifestyle, consumer products, hospitality, restaurants, food and beverage, spirits, real estate and social impact. You’ll produce content on location at productions, fashion shoots, sporting events, entertainment premieres, brand activations, product launches, restaurants, hotels and other client environments.

You’ll collaborate with social strategists, creative teams, PR professionals and external creators to bring ideas to life.

We are looking for someone who is curious, resourceful, highly creative and excited about making great content every day. The ideal candidate can adapt their creative approach to different brands, audiences and cultural environments, bringing fresh ideas and a distinctive visual perspective to every assignment.

What You’ll Do

Social Content Creation & Editing

  • Independently shoot, edit and produce compelling short‑form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Stories, YouTube Shorts and emerging social platforms.
  • Take creative concepts from initial idea through capture, editing, revisions and final delivery.
  • Produce platform‑native content with strong storytelling, pacing, visual composition and creative hooks.
  • Edit video using CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar tools, incorporating music, captions, graphics, transitions and other creative elements.
  • Capture and edit photography and other visual assets for social media.
  • Adapt creative assets into multiple formats optimized for different platforms.
  • Create content that feels authentic, culturally relevant and native to the platforms where it appears.
  • Contribute original creative ideas, concepts and content formats to client programs.
  • Adapt visual storytelling and creative execution to reflect different brand identities, audiences and industries.

On-Location Content Production

  • Capture social content across a variety of environments including fashion and beauty shoots, sporting events, entertainment productions, celebrity appearances, product launches, real estate properties, restaurants, hotels, brand activations and community initiatives.
  • Plan and execute small‑scale content shoots independently, including shot lists, equipment preparation, lighting, audio and on‑site logistics.
  • Work quickly and creatively in dynamic environments to capture compelling, timely content.
  • Collaborate with social strategists and account teams to ensure content aligns with client objectives and creative briefs.
  • Coordinate production logistics, including schedules, locations, equipment and external production support when needed.
  • Work with photographers, videographers, stylists and other creative partners on larger productions.
  • Ensure captured content is organized, properly stored and ready for efficient post‑production.

Social Production & Workflow Management

  • Manage multiple content projects and editing assignments across client accounts.
  • Partner with social strategists, account teams and project managers to align on briefs, timelines and deliverables.
  • Track production schedules, revisions, approvals and deadlines.
  • Incorporate creative feedback quickly and accurately while maintaining content quality.
  • Maintain organized footage libraries, creative assets, project files and final deliverables.
  • Help establish efficient workflows that allow the team to produce high‑quality content consistently and at scale.
  • Coordinate with external creators and production partners when needed, including deliverables, usage requirements and production budgets.
  • Proactively identify production challenges and find creative, resourceful solutions.
  • Participate in brainstorms, creative planning sessions and social campaign development.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends, emerging formats, editing techniques and platform innovations.
  • Bring fresh ideas and creative approaches to client content programs.
  • Understand how platform algorithms, audience behavior and content formats influence creative performance.
  • Experiment with new editing tools, AI‑powered creative platforms and production techniques.
  • Collaborate with social strategy, PR, influencer and experiential teams to transform client moments into engaging social content.
  • Draw inspiration from fashion, beauty, sports, entertainment, music, art, design and popular culture to create fresh and culturally relevant content.
  • Use content performance insights to continuously improve creative execution.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3 to 4+ years of experience creating and editing social media content, ideally for brands, agencies or digital publishers.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating original short‑form video content you personally shot and edited.
  • Advanced proficiency with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable video editing tools.
  • Strong shooting skills using smartphones, DSLR/mirrorless cameras or other video production equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and emerging social content formats.
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts, including framing, lighting, pacing, sound and editing.
  • Ability to independently take a content concept from brief to finished, publish‑ready asset.
  • Experience capturing content in fast-moving, real‑world environments such as events, productions, brand activations, fashion shoots, sporting events or other live experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple creative projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret creative briefs, incorporate feedback and collaborate effectively with strategists and account teams.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, motion graphics or graphic design tools is a plus.
  • Experience with AI‑powered creative tools and emerging production technologies is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of social media strategy, content calendars and performance analytics.
  • Experience working with brands or talent in one or more of the following categories is a plus: consumer products, fashion, beauty, sports, entertainment, celebrity and talent, lifestyle, food and beverage, spirits, hospitality, real estate or social impact.
  • Ability to adapt content production and visual storytelling across a diverse range of brands, audiences and creative environments.
  • Experience working across multiple client brands or within an agency environment is preferred.
  • Based in the New York metropolitan area and available to work in the office three days per week.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend client events and content shoots.
