Job summary

UltraViolet Cyber, a security operations platform leader, is seeking a Security Engineer to provide SOC engineering support and guidance, enhancing confidentiality, integrity, and availability of client information systems. You will design, implement, and maintain event collection solutions, normalize and correlate logs, and support automation across a large DHS-centric environment.

The role requires active US citizenship and a SECRET clearance, with 1–2 days onsite weekly in Herndon, VA.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in security focused IT engineering.
• At least three years of experience in operations, management, monitoring and maintenance of network security devices and technologies, including firewalls, routers, VPN, IDS sensors, proxies, wireless access points, PKI, domain controllers, SIEMs.
• At least three years of practical experience in the application, management and implementation of security policies, controls and baselines to a wide range of operating systems (Windows, OS X, Linux) and network devices.
• Thorough understanding of Linux-based systems to execute O&M for RHEL servers via CLI and automation.
• Additional skills/experience include Linux Admin, Ansible, Splunk Admin, VMware, IDS/IPS hardware support, and log collection.

Responsibilities

• File and Directory Management using essential tools.
• System Operations: manage running systems and services, boot levels, VMs.
• Storage Configuration: partitions, LVM, file system attributes.
• User and Group Management: create/manage users and access control.
• Security Management: configure firewalls, SELinux, ensure system security.
• Software Management: install, update, maintain packages and core services.
