Job summary

UltraViolet Cyber seeks a Security Engineer to provide SOC engineering support and guidance to teams and the DHS client, strengthening the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems by identifying, verifying, and understanding cyber events.

Responsibilities include designing, configuring, and maintaining event collection solutions; normalizing and correlating logs to form a comprehensive view of the security environment and detect breaches; and leveraging automation to

Qualifications

• Minimum three years in security-focused IT engineering.
• Three years managing network security devices and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS, proxies, PKI, domain controllers, SIEM).
• Three years applying and enforcing security policies across Windows, macOS/Linux and network gear.
• Strong understanding of Linux-based systems for O&M on RHEL via CLI and automation.
• Experience with Linux admin, Ansible, Splunk, VMware, IDS/IPS hardware, and log collection.

Responsibilities

• File and Directory Management using essential tools and command line.
• System Operations: manage running systems, services, and VMs.
• Storage Configuration: partitions, LVMs, filesystems with permissions and encryption.
• User and Group Management: accounts, groups, access controls.
• Security Management: configure firewalls, SELinux, system hardening.
• Software Management: install, update, maintain core services.
