Job summary

UltraViolet Cyber is seeking a Security Engineer to deliver SOC engineering support and guidance to teams and a DHS client, enhancing confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. You will engineer event collection, correlate logs, and support the full lifecycle of security solutions.

Role requires on-site presence in Herndon, VA 1–2 days per week, US citizenship, and a Top Secret clearance. Expect hands-on operations for a broad TSA IT security environment.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in security focused IT engineering.
• At least three years of experience in the operations, management, monitoring and maintenance of network security devices and technologies.
• At least three years of practical experience applying security policies across operating systems and network gear.
• Thorough understanding of Linux-based systems for O&M of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
• Additional skills: Linux Admin, Ansible, Splunk Admin, VMware, IDS/IPS hardware support, and log collection.

Responsibilities

• File and Directory Management: Use essential tools to handle files and directories and command-line environments.
• System Operations: Manage running systems, boot/run levels, services and VMs.
• Storage Configuration: Set up partitions, logical volumes, and encrypted file systems.
• User and Group Management: Create and manage users, groups, and access control.
• Security Management: Configure firewalls, SELinux, and ensure system security.
• Software Management: Install, update, and maintain software packages and core services.
