Job description

About Us

Operating at the intersection of retail and food service, our client serves a customer-led marketplace where pricing has a direct bearing on demand, perceived value, margins, and operational performance. Although specific business details are not provided, the organisation requires disciplined commercial thinking to manage pricing across products, channels, and customer occasions. Its environment is suited to professionals who can connect market insight, financial outcomes, and practical execution.

Based in Houston, Texas, this organisation values pricing as a strategic business capability rather than a purely analytical function. The role will contribute to a commercially focused operation where decisions must be clear, evidence-based, responsive to market conditions, and aligned with customer expectations.

Job Description

The Senior Manager, Pricing will lead the development and refinement of pricing strategy across a retail and food service environment. This position will turn customer, competitor, market, cost, and performance data into actionable pricing direction, helping senior stakeholders make decisions that improve revenue quality, margin delivery, and customer value.

Success will require more than producing analysis. The role will establish a structured pricing agenda, prioritise high-value opportunities, guide cross-functional decisions, and support the implementation of recommendations across relevant parts of the business. A strong performer will bring commercial confidence, analytical rigour, and the influence required to make pricing insights meaningful in day-to-day operations.

Working from Houston, the Senior Manager will operate across business functions and communicate clearly with leaders who may have different priorities. The role is expected to strengthen pricing governance, improve decision consistency, and create a repeatable approach to measuring the commercial impact of pricing actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and evolve pricing strategies that balance customer value, competitive position, revenue growth, and margin objectives.
  • Lead pricing analyses across retail and food service categories, channels, locations, or customer segments as applicable.
  • Build business cases and recommendations using demand trends, competitive intelligence, cost inputs, historical performance, and financial targets.
  • Establish pricing frameworks, processes, approval standards, and governance routines that improve decision quality and speed.
  • Identify opportunities involving price architecture, assortment, promotions, discounts, pack sizes, or other commercial levers.
  • Partner with finance, merchandising, operations, marketing, sales, technology, and senior leadership to translate strategy into execution.
  • Monitor pricing performance through relevant metrics, assess the outcomes of implemented changes, and recommend corrective action.
  • Present complex findings in a concise, persuasive manner and influence stakeholders toward commercially sound decisions.
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in pricing, revenue management, commercial strategy, business analytics, merchandising, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated success designing or implementing pricing strategies in retail, food service, consumer-facing, hospitality, distribution, or another high-volume commercial environment.
  • Strong financial and quantitative capability, including the ability to interpret demand, margin, elasticity, competitive, and profitability data.
  • Experience developing analytical models, business cases, dashboards, or decision tools that support senior-level commercial choices.
  • Practical understanding of pricing governance, promotional effectiveness, price optimisation, or related commercial management practices.
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives from problem definition through recommendation, stakeholder alignment, implementation, and performance review.
  • Executive-level communication skills, with confidence explaining analytical conclusions and challenging assumptions constructively.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners without relying solely on formal authority.
Benefits
  • Strategic ownership of pricing decisions with a direct connection to customer experience, revenue, and profitability.
  • Broad exposure to both retail and food service economics, creating an opportunity to influence multiple commercial levers.
  • Visibility with senior stakeholders and the opportunity to shape how pricing capability develops across the organisation.
  • A role combining advanced analysis with practical implementation, rather than limiting impact to reporting or insights alone.
  • Professional growth through high-value initiatives involving market strategy, financial performance, operations, and customer behaviour.
  • Opportunity to build scalable pricing frameworks and leave a measurable improvement in decision quality and commercial outcomes.
  • Houston-based work within a dynamic, customer-facing sector where market conditions create meaningful strategic challenges.
Other

This Houston-based opportunity is suited to a commercially minded pricing leader who can move confidently between strategy, analytics, and execution. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with incomplete information, clarifying ambiguous business questions, and creating practical recommendations that leaders can act on.

Experience in retail or food service is valuable, while strong transferable backgrounds in revenue management, consulting, category strategy, financial planning, or customer economics may also be relevant. The position carries significant influence and will require sound judgement, disciplined prioritisation, and the ability to demonstrate measurable outcomes from pricing initiatives.
