IHA is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician in Grand Rapids, MI to assist pharmacists with preparing and distributing medications, maintaining inventory, and updating patient records. Flexible morning to evening shifts, with a minimum high school diploma and preferred formal technician training.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request or assigned work.
  • Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation.
  • Orders packaging and schedules deliveries.
  • Performs simple pharmaceutical calculations (days’ supply, weight-based dosing).
  • Participates in training and evaluation of pharmacy students/residents as assigned.
  • Provides excellent customer service and strong written/verbal communication.

Hours—

  • Flexible, morning, afternoon and evening shifts available.
  • We will work with your scheduling needs.

Education—

  • Minimum: High School education or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.

Credentials/Licensure—

  • Minimum: Pharmacy Technician License (issued by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Professional Licensing)
  • Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Related Experience—

  • Preferred: 2+ years pharmacy work experience in long term care pharmacy setting.

Essential Functions—

  • Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and established policies, procedures, or protocols.
  • Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
  • Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation, files documentation.
  • Order packaging and scheduling deliveries.
  • Perform simple pharmaceutical calculations including, but not limited to, days’ supply and weight-based dosing calculations.
  • Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
