Job summary

IHA in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists with preparing and distributing medications, maintaining inventory, and recording patient data. You will support the pharmacy team in a fast-paced, patient-centered setting.

Requirements include High school diploma, active Michigan license, and one year of retail pharmacy experience; formal technician training or CPhT is preferred. Day shift, full-time position with opportunity to train students and residents.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in Michigan.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or per prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
• Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.
• Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation; files documentation; answers telephone and pneumatic tube; and handles cash transactions.
• Prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products.
• Processes medication charges and credits according to established policy.
• Basic pharmacy computer order entry.
• Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What The Pharmacy Technician Will Need

• Education Minimum: High school education or equivalent.
• Preferred Completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.
• Minimum Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan.
• Preferred Active status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Minimum One year of retail pharmacy work experience.
