Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an SMT Operator Technician in Buffalo, NY to set up, program, operate, and monitor automated SMT equipment for PCB production. The role emphasizes maintaining production quality and equipment performance while following safety, ESD, and IPC guidelines.

The candidate will read work instructions, BOMs, schematics, and assembly drawings, perform basic troubleshooting, and ensure accurate production documentation is completed daily. High school diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating SMT pick-and-place equipment or programming SMT equipment.
• Ability to identify electronic components and interpret technical documentation.
• Familiarity with IPC guidelines and ESD handling practices.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate automated SMT pick-and-place equipment.
• Run supporting production equipment such as reflow ovens, screen printers, and stencil cleaning systems.
• Interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, BOMs, schematics, and other production documentation.
• Monitor equipment and finished product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Identify machine, component, or process issues and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Make equipment adjustments to maintain production consistency and efficiency.
• Perform solder touch-up or minor rework when necessary.
• Complete required production and quality documentation.
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
• Follow established safety, ESD, quality, and manufacturing procedures.

Pay Rate Range: $30.00 /per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a SMT Machine Operator to support printed circuit board production within an electronics manufacturing environment. This position will set up, program, operate, and monitor automated SMT equipment while helping maintain consistent production quality and equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate automated SMT pick-and-place equipment.
• Run supporting production equipment such as reflow ovens, screen printers, and stencil cleaning systems.

Experience & Education

• 1+ year of SMT pick-and-place equipment experience preferred.
• Candidates with strong technical, programming, or computer skills who can quickly learn SMT equipment may also be considered.
• High school diploma or GED required.
