Job summary

Aerotek in Tempe, AZ is seeking an SMT Operator I for contract work on first shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Mon–Fri). You will set up and tear down SMT lines, run SMT machines, printers, and reflow ovens, and ensure IPC quality standards. You will also maintain production reports and perform preventative maintenance.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of CNC/machine operation, strong dexterity, ability to read instructions, and basic computer skills. This onsite role emphasizes safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of CNC and Machine operation (SMT preferred, entry-level considered).
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and procedures.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with machine interfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.

Job Title: SMT Operator

The SMT Operator I plays a crucial role in supporting surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing operations. This role involves setting up and tearing down SMT production lines and operating associated equipment such as SMT machines, printers, and reflow ovens. The operator must adhere to IPC standards, internal work instructions, and customer documentation while performing basic machine edits and in-process troubleshooting. Responsibilities also include archiving machine-generated production reports, conducting scheduled preventive maintenance on SMT equipment, and ensuring products are produced in compliance with IPC quality standards. Safety policies and procedures must be followed, and additional duties may be assigned by production leadership.

• Experience in SMT, Surface mount, Surface-mount technology.
• CNC operation and machine operating.
• Ability to read and follow instructions/diagrams.
• Experience in machine operating, blueprint reading, electronic assembly, and general assembly.

Work Environment

This position is for the 1st Shift, operating from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The work environment is collaborative, focused on safety, and committed to quality standards. Employees are expected to dress according to standard safety guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Tempe, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
