Aerotek is seeking an SMT Operator for the 1st shift in Gurnee, IL. The role focuses on operating SMT equipment, loading and unloading components, and hand placing parts on pick-and-place lines.
The position requires accurate documentation, teamwork, and adherence to quality standards such as ISO 9001. Expect potential overtime and a fully onsite factory environment.
We are seeking a dedicated SMT Operator for the 1st shift. The role will train from 6am to 2:30pm M-F, and then transition to schedule 7am to 3:30pm long-term. The primary focus will be operating and handling related duties to the SMT demand including: loading and unloading components and feeders, hand placement of components, troubleshooting as necessary, and accurate documentation of work.
Load and unload components onto feeders.
Manage the loading and unloading of feeders onto pick and place equipment.
Perform hand placement of components.
Document work accurately and efficiently.
Knowledge of electronic components identification.
Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving techniques.
Strong accuracy in tasks performed.
Experience with SMT equipment operation is preferred.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and keyboard typing.
Understanding of IPC SMT Placement & Soldering Acceptability Standards.
Experience in SMT or electronics is advantageous.
Ability to function well in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize duties.
Ability to read and understand assembly drawings.
Perform duties in accordance with an ISO9001 Quality System.

The role is based in a modern factory with controlled temperatures. Employees work an 8-hour day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime when required. Reliable transportation is a must. Eye protection and ESD protection are required in the manufacturing area. The position involves standing for extended hours and lifting up to 30 lbs, with the ability to distinguish colors, fine circuit detail, and tones.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gurnee, IL.
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
