Aerotek is hiring a 1st Shift SMT Operator in Plano, TX. This contract-to-hire, fully onsite role requires setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT line equipment including solder printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
You will verify placements, perform quality inspections, and support FAI processes while coordinating with inspectors to reduce defects. Overtime and strict safety practices apply on the production floor.
We are seeking a skilled 1st Shift SMT Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT line equipment, ensuring efficient and effective production processes.
Set up, operate, and maintain SMT Line equipment such as Solder Printers, Pick N Place equipment, and Reflow Ovens according to work instructions and maintenance schedules.
Maintain SMT Lines performance through effective organization of workstations, defect prevention strategies, and timely equipment maintenance.
Verify parts and their feeder pick up locations and placements with updated Pull Sheet and Assembly documentation prior to full production.
Perform cursory inspection on part placement quality as per set quality standards.
Provide assistance in the First Article Inspection (FAI) process.
Support other SMT Line operations as required.
Communicate and cooperate with in-process inspectors regarding part change or placement defect reduction strategies.
Participate in team quality improvement meetings.
Troubleshoot equipment effectively and efficiently as per work instructions to reduce equipment downtime.
Perform scheduled maintenance of workstations and equipment to optimize process performance.
Experience with Universal, Juki, SMT operator equipment, reflow ovens, and AOI.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication skills in both written and oral English.
Computer literacy including DOS and Windows.
Previous electronic manufacturing experience is an asset.
Knowledge of Juki SMT Machine is an asset.
Knowledge of MPM and EKRA screen printers is an asset.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Must be able to work flexible hours including daily and weekly overtime.

The position is based on a production floor with about 50 other colleagues. The role requires wearing ESD straps and maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
