Job summary

Yamaha Motor Crp. USA is seeking an SMT Field Service Engineer to support installations, maintenance, and repairs across the Midwest to Northeast regions, including travel across the United States and internationally.

You will install, maintain, and repair Yamaha SMT equipment, work with electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum subsystems, and assist with programming and component library creation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2‑year technical degree in Electronics, Electromechanical Systems, or related field preferred; 5 years SMT experience may substitute.
• 3+ years SMT experience required, including hands-on with pick-and-place equipment.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and using test equipment; electrical calculations.
• Ability to travel 60%–80%, including international travel, with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone, email, and onsite support to YMUS Robotics distributors and direct customers.
• Support installation, warranty service, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with factory engineering to improve products and reduce recurring issues.
• Notify management of customer issues affecting relationships.
• Coordinate with Sales on future opportunities at customer sites.
• Document issues clearly for engineering and support teams.
• Track issues to ensure resolution and aid training material development.
• Develop knowledge to act as SME for internal and external customers.
• Set up and remove equipment from demonstration facilities.
