Job summary

Ridge Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a Smoking Attendant to assist residents in safely accessing the designated smoking area and to support a resident-centered, quality-focused environment.

You will transport residents to the smoking area, monitor safety, and maintain a clean, orderly space while upholding dignity and confidentiality. The role emphasizes compassionate interaction with residents, families, and staff in a supportive team setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Dependable, safety-conscious approach to assisting residents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, friendly, and respectful attitude when working with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to challenging situations.
• Good judgment and the ability to recognize and report safety concerns or emergencies.
• Willingness to work cooperatively with nursing staff and other facility team members.
• Commitment to maintaining resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Willingness to follow facility policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with transportation to and from the designated smoking area.
• Provide assistance with lighting smoking materials in accordance with facility policies and safety procedures.
• Monitor the designated smoking area to help maintain a safe environment for residents.
• Keep the smoking area clean, orderly, and free of hazards.
• Follow established safety procedures and demonstrate proper safety techniques.
• Treat residents with dignity, respect, patience, and kindness.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding resident needs, safety concerns, and emergencies.
• Protect resident privacy and maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
• Help promote positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Use facility equipment and supplies responsibly.
• Follow all facility policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
