Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is hiring a Special Appeals / Smartdata Accountant in Philadelphia, PA. This role handles all stages of special appeals distribution and administers Smartdata within a 40-hour week, reporting to the Divisional Assistant Controller.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or candidate), at least two years in general accounting, and proficiency in Excel, with compliance for PA Act 153 clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or degree candidate preferred.
• Minimum of two years of general accounting experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong time management, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must provide proof of training on recognizing and reporting child abuse per PA Act 153 of 2014 with recurrent training.
• Meet PA Act 153 child protection clearances including PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Distribute mail appeal, National Classy, Territorial Classy contributions to proper destination based on information from THQ and Development.
• Distribute matching gifts, Mobile Cause, check, cash, money order donation contributions based on information from Development.
• Maintain accounting functions through post-closing trial balance for the Special Appeals fund, including GL analysis & bank reconciliation.
• Review Special Appeals monthly financial reports generated from Serenic and follow up on inaccuracies and concerns.
• Serve the Divisional System Administrator for Smart Data and manage activity related to corporate credit cards.
