Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. is seeking a Transportation Systems/Technology Leader to drive ITS/ATMS innovation across the Mid-Atlantic from our DC/VA offices.

This hands‑on leadership role focuses on planning, design, and construction support of cutting‑edge transportation technology projects that transform how communities move. You will oversee design teams, develop master plans, manage staff, and guide technical reports and specifications, with travel and a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• PE license required.
• 11+ years of relevant ITS/ATMS experience and team management.
• Willingness to travel and collaborate across offices.

Responsibilities

• Provide project oversight on ITS/ATMS/Technology projects with clear scoping and viable deliverables.
• Develop design plans and specifications for ITS/ATMS hardware and communications infrastructure.
• Oversee Systems Engineering documents following FHWA processes.
• Plan and develop ITS/ATMS master plans and policy documents.
• Supervise staff and coordinate field work, testing, and infrastructure verification.
• Write technical reports, memoranda, and update specifications to reflect trends in transportation technology.
