Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Small Business Renewal Underwriter & Portfolio Associate to support the Northeast territory, spanning Maine to Virginia. This fully remote role prefers candidates in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin, conducting underwriting for small business accounts and maintaining portfolio performance.

You will analyze risk, collaborate with brokers and clients, document decisions, and stay current with industry changes while building profitable relationships

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 2-5 years of commercial lines underwriting or related experience; small business/middle market preferred.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems, policy administration platforms, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Underwrite small business accounts in new and renewal books per guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyze risk data to decide on coverage, pricing, and terms; review financials, valuations, loss histories.
• Collaborate with underwriters, agents, brokers, and clients for information gathering.
• Maintain underwriting files and generate reports on risk evaluations and portfolio performance.
• Ensure documentation of decisions and compliance with regulations; communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders.
• Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions; build relationships to generate and retain business.

Our Specialty Human Services Division is seeking a Small Business Renewal Underwriter & Portfolio Associate to join its team. This role supports the Northeast territory spanning Maine to Virgina. This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates located in the Northeast or Illinois/Wisconsin.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Evaluates and underwrites a book of small business accounts new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Reviews existing policies for potential renewal or modification.
• Analyzes risk data to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms within authority. Including analyzing financial statements, property valuations, and loss histories to assess risk exposure. Orders and reviews additional reports or screens loss control inspections.
• Collaborate with other underwriters, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
• Prepares and maintains underwriting files for assigned underwriting partner, ensuring all documents and approvals are properly filed. Compiles reports on risk evaluations, policy statuses, and portfolio performance for underwriters and management.
• Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with state and federal insurance regulations.
• Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Stays updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers, focusing on generating new business and retaining profitable business.
• Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent insurance industry experience considered. CPCU, AU, AINS, ARM, or progress toward completion of professional insurance designations.

• Generally, 2-5 years of commercial lines underwriting, underwriting support, or insurance operations experience. Experience with small business or middle market commercial insurance preferred.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems, policy administration platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Position limited occasional travel.

$63,000.00 -$90,000.00
