Job summary

Glendale Unified School District seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to provide direct treatment support under supervision. The role focuses on articulation and phonology, language processing, hearing, and augmentative communication in a school setting.

The SLPA conducts screenings, assists with IEPs, documents progress, and supports SLP assessments while performing clerical duties and equipment maintenance. CA licensure and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Current registration and certification by the State of California Board of Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Minimum six months experience with individuals with speech and language disabilities in a structured environment is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts speech-language screening, without interpretation, using screening protocols developed by the supervising Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Provides direct treatment assistance to identify students under the supervision of a Speech‑Language Pathologist.
  • Follows and implements documented Individualized Educational Programs (IEP's) developed by a supervising SLP.
  • Documents student progress toward meeting established objectives, and reports the information to a supervising Speech‑Language Pathologist.
  • Assists SLP during assessment, assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties for a supervising Speech‑Language Pathologist.
  • Schedules activities and prepares charts, records, graphs, and data.
  • Performs checks and maintenance of equipment augmentative communication devices.
  • Participates in meetings and in-service training programs. Assists with speech-language pathology research projects, in-service training, and family or community education.
  • Assists with hearing screenings under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist.
