Monarch Mountain in Salida, CO is seeking winter seasonal workers to maintain slopes, parks, and surrounding areas. The role includes operating heavy equipment, grooming tasks, and assisting other departments while ensuring a high-quality guest experience.

Pay starts at $23.00–$28.00 hourly with a Monarch Season Pass and other benefits. Work outdoors at elevations up to 12,000 ft with variable weather and long shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate equipment per manuals and procedures.

• Load/unload supplies; assist other departments as needed.
• Follow safety rules and communicate equipment issues clearly.

JOB SUMMARY

The Slope Maintenance Department is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family. This department is an upbeat, active, and outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains. This department is responsible for the maintenance of the slopes, terrain parks, areas surrounding the base, the parking lots, and assisting other departments with heavy equipment and manual labor needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
• Use best practices and follow all safety and operating procedures in the performance of all duties.
• Responsible for inspecting and operating the assigned machine, tools and equipment in accordance with machine manual recommendations and departmental procedures.
• Identify and communicate equipment problems, and operate all equipment in a conscientious, efficient and economical manner.
• Have the ski runs, areas surrounding the base, and the parking lots in optimum condition by the time employees and guests arrive.
• Perform grooming to include packing, tilling, blading, patching, snow moving, major slope reconstruction, lift ramp and maze work, grooming and shoveling around buildings, leaving a quality surface.
• Perform parking lot work to include clearing the entrance and exit roads, main parking area, garage lot, mine lot, stairs, loading dock, dumpsters, drains and around building, cleaning and pushing banks and maintaining a helicopter pad.
• Assist in the picking up of trash and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the property.
• Load & unload trucks getting supplies & equipment where they need to go.

Level 2 Additional Duties

• Has experience operating Monarch's heavy equipment and the knowledge of Monarch's operating requirements and the layout of the mountain.
• Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment required, to include loaders, snowcats, snowmobiles, bobcats, snow blowers…etc.

Level 3 Additional Duties

• Has the knowledge and experience of Monarch's operating requirements, to include the winch cat/roller, and can perform the essential functions with minimal supervision.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum age: 21
• Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
• A valid driver's license and good, company insurable driving record required.
• High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
• Ability to work a graveyard shift and remain alert and attentive.
• Requires bending, stretching, reaching, grasping, shoveling and operating hand and power tools.
• Requires visual acuity in high- and low- light conditions.
• Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
• Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000') , with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
