Priority Dispatch Corp. in Salida, CO is seeking a Junior Instructor for the Monarch Mountain Ski & Ride School. This on-mountain, seasonal position involves coaching guests, assisting instructors, and helping with hill prep throughout the winter season.

A positive attitude and outdoor enthusiasm are essential for success. Compensation begins at $16.00–$17.00 per hour with a Monarch Season Pass and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old.
• Legal right to work in the United States or valid work permit.
• Background check required.
• Ski/ride at an intermediate level.
• Ability to push, lift, and move up to 35 lbs.
• Work at high elevation (up to 12,000 ft) and in severe weather.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors in coaching guests in skiing or snowboarding.
• Provide a positive, high-quality guest experience using PSIA/AASI methods.
• Work as part of a Monarch team to deliver exceptional service.
• Assist in snow removal and keep entrances to facilities clear.
• Assist in hill preparation (panels, signage, mazes, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Ski & Ride School Department is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family. This department is an upbeat, active, outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains. Junior Instructors should have a positive attitude, enjoy being outdoors, and enjoy sharing their knowledge and passion for skiing or snowboarding with our guests. Junior Instructors are responsible for assisting instructors in coaching guests in skiing and/or snowboarding, assist in snow removal and hill preparation, and develop their skiing/boarding experience throughout the season. The Junior Instructor position is a position for 14-15 year old's beginning their instructor career!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Assist instructors in coaching guests in the tactics of skiing or snowboarding, providing them with a positive and quality experience that exceeds their expectations and within the realm of the PSIA/AASI teaching methodologies.
• Work as a team with other members of all Monarch departments to provide exceptional service.
• Develop skiing/boarding and teaching skills throughout the season.
• Assist in snow removal and maintaining all entrances to the Lesson and Rental Center, Children's Center, Ski Equipment Storage, and Employee Locker Room.
• Assist in hill preparation including, but not limited to, setting panels, signage, mazes, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Age: 14
• Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
• Background check required.
• Ski/ride at an intermediate level
• Ability to push, lift, and move up to 35 lbs.
• Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000'), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Compensation: Begins at $16 per hour, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience/length of service. (Junior Instructor positions are an exception to our $18/hour rate)
