Job summary

Atkore is seeking an experienced Slitter Tech based in Harvey, IL to set up and operate slitting machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will ensure coils meet specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of steel slitting experience, is comfortable with lean manufacturing principles, and can pass post-offer drug screening. You will move stock, load mills, and document production details.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, slitting steel.
• Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
• Pass post offer employment process with drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Move stock to and from the slitters.
• Load the tube mills.
• Operate cutting torches.
• Set up and operate slitter to produce slit coils to specifications.
• Check master coils for correct gauge and record any visual defect.
• Continuously observe slitting and rewinding operation to shut off quickly, if necessary.
• Fill out necessary tags, production and other reports accurately.
• Load/unload master coil and slit coils from slitter.
• Notify supervisor when knives need sharpening.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs and assist Maintenance Department in major repairs when needed.
