Job summary

Atkore is seeking a Slitter Tech for the 2nd shift based in Harvey, IL. The role focuses on setting up and operating slitting machines to produce slit coils to specifications, with a base rate of $29.89 per hour plus a $1.00 per hour shift differential.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience in steel slitting within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and familiar with lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in slitting steel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Ability to pass post-offer drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Move stock to and from the slitters.
• Load the tube mills.
• Operate cutting torches.
• Set up and operate slitter to produce slit coils to specifications.
• Check master coils for correct gauge and record defects.
• Observe slitting and rewinding to shut down quickly if needed.
• Fill out tags, production and other reports accurately.
• Load/unload master and slit coils from slitter.
• Notify supervisor when knives need sharpening.
• Assist maintenance with minor repairs and major repairs when required.
