Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is seeking a Slitter Operator in Willoughby, Ohio. You will set up and operate the slitter per customer specifications and work orders, inspect equipment, and measure dimensions to ensure material meets production instructions.

Responsibilities include handling coils, aligning components, and maintaining safety standards while supporting maintenance and line efficiency. This role requires reading production orders and maintaining quality throughout processing.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform complete set-up and operation of slitting per instructions.
• Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to comply with safety rules.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and follow production orders.

Responsibilities

• Make and inspect arbor and overarm set-ups per production instructions.
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil.
• Thread coil through slitter head and crop non-complying material.
• Thread mults into recoiler.
• Measure and verify gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition.
• Set gauge monitoring system and ensure gauge calibration.
• Adjust machine setup to correct defects during slitting.
• Communicate non-compliance production to supervisor or shift lead.
• Assist maintenance with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Remove scrap and clean slitter and surrounding area.
