Job summary

Lifepoint Health® is seeking a Sleep Technician Trainee to join our acute care hospital team. This role supports diagnostic sleep studies, therapeutic interventions, patient monitoring, data collection, and education under supervision, with a clear pathway to become a Registered Sleep Technologist after certification.

Under the mentorship of an RPSGT and Clinical Director, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting, with PRN schedule options, part-time possibilities, and opportunities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Sleep technician trainees must be enrolled in an accredited educational program in sleep technology or have graduated from such a program and be awaiting registry.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with diagnostic sleep studies and therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor patients, collect data, document, maintain equipment, and provide patient education; may perform sleep technologist duties when an RPSGT is present.

Job Title: Sleep Technician Trainee

Job Type: PRN, Nonexempt

Schedule: Weekday, Weekend, PRN minimum requirements 1-2 days a week schedule availability

How You’ll Contribute

The Sleep Technician Trainee works under the direct supervision and mentorship of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and Clinical Director to provide comprehensive sleep disorder evaluation and treatment in an acute care hospital setting. Responsibilities include assisting with diagnostic sleep studies, therapeutic interventions, patient monitoring, data collection, documentation, equipment maintenance, and patient education while delivering safe, high-quality care. The Sleep Technician Trainee may perform sleep technologist duties when an RPSGT is present and must be enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, an accredited sleep technology program while working toward registry certification. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development, with a pathway to transition into a Registered Sleep Technologist position upon attainment of board certification.
