A sleep technologist trainee works under the direct supervision of a registered polysomnographer to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders in the sleep testing center, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care, and direct patient education. A sleep technologist trainee is able to perform the duties of a sleep technologist so long as a RPSGT is present. The sleep technologist trainee is enrolled in an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on sleep technology and has graduated and is awaiting registry.
