Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a part-time Nurse Clinician to support two clinics in Grayslake and Lake Forest. This 20-hour weekly role involves four to five hour days with travel between sites.

The incumbent adheres to ethical standards and will contribute to patient care through patient assessments and coordinated nursing duties. The position requires an accredited nursing degree, Illinois RN licensure, and BLS CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR certification.
• Current experience within past five years or new nursing graduate within past two years. If less than six months experience, approval required from NMG Director of Professional Development.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure OSHA compliance and report deficiencies.
• Provide pre-attending care for patients with thorough nursing assessment.
• Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medications, vital signs, and lab prep.
• Interpret abnormalities, document interventions, and maintain patient records.
• Communicate with other departments to coordinate patient care.
• Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
• Manage urgent/emergent medical situations and operate emergency equipment as needed.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians, delegating tasks per Illinois law.
• Initiate and coordinate patient education and community outreach when requested.

Education

RN license Illinois

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred)
