Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Nurse Clinician for the Sleep Program on a full-time days schedule, traveling between Grayslake and Lake Forest campuses. The role supports Sleep Medicine and Pulmonology, with hours 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

As a Nurse Clinician you’ll perform patient assessments, deliver nursing interventions, educate patients, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Requires IL RN license, BLS, and clinical experience; a BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
Past five years of nursing experience; new graduates within two years eligible with director approval.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure OSHA compliance and proper care of medical equipment.
Provide pre-attending care for patients with comprehensive assessments and documentation.
Perform routine nursing duties, phlebotomy, meds, vitals; handle complex procedures per specialty.
Interpret abnormalities, document interventions clearly in the medical record.
Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care.
Triage and prioritize incoming calls using clinical assessment skills.
Manage urgent/emergent situations according to protocols.
Serve as a resource for staff; delegate tasks to LPNs and Medical Assistants as allowed.
Initiate and coordinate patient education; participate in community outreach as needed.
