Job summary

Carnegie is seeking a Slate Developer for Custom Portal Solutions to build and maintain Slate Portals for client institutions. You will work with strategists and client delivery teams to create fast, accessible portals that meet scope and timelines.

The role requires 2+ years of Slate Portal experience, strong HTML/CSS/JS skills, and a portfolio of Slate work. Remote work options are available with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience building Slate Portals.
• Portfolio of website development and/or custom Slate Portal work, required for consideration.
• Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS, JavaScript and jQuery, plus WCAG 2.2 accessibility knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Scope assigned Slate development work and identify risks early.
• Coordinate with Slate Strategists and Client Delivery on design, content, UX, timelines and technical requirements.
• Deliver development work meeting project scope and client expectations.
• Draft specifications describing what needs to be built.
• Follow established project development practices.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, QA, and documentation, ensuring accessibility and Slate standards.
• Write scalable, efficient code for project data requirements.
• Test projects for visual quality, accessibility, browser compatibility, UX, and adherence to specs.
• Review teammates' code and troubleshoot issues when needed.
• Build and maintain Slate Portals and front-end tools for partner institutions.
• Deliver custom Slate-hosted web projects for an assigned client portfolio.
• Coordinate with Slate Strategists and broader client teams to keep projects on track.
• Respond to support requests by resolving issues or involving the appropriate teammate.

Salary: $80,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience
• At least two years of professional experience building Slate Portals
• Experience with Technolutions Slate CRM
• Portfolio of website development and/or custom Slate Portal work, required for consideration
• Skills in responsive web design, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS, JavaScript, and jQuery
• Knowledge of web development best practices for performance, security, and accessibility, including WCAG 2.2
• Familiarity with database languages such as SQL
• Developing ability to build flexible, robust design systems
• Comfort using QA and code validation tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and decision-making
• Ability to collaborate with teammates and represent Carnegie professionally with clients
• Strong communication and time management in a remote work environment, and ability to learn new technology platforms
• Knowledge of Slate Portals, including methods, views, queries, and the events module
• Basic understanding of admissions processes and strategy
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
