Job summary

Velcro Companies in Somersworth, NH, is seeking a Second Shift beam operator to produce quality beams in a controlled weaving environment. You will follow standard work instructions, operate machinery safely, and complete all paperwork accurately while supporting other yarn prep areas.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to learn new processes, and the willingness to work overtime, including extended shifts and weekends. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certification in lockout/tagout operations and powered industrial trucks preferred.
  • Ability to read a scale and refractometer.
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions and mix chemicals according to formulas.
  • Minimum six months of experience operating complex machinery.
  • Ability to learn via book, web-based and classroom participation.

Responsibilities

  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Safely operate hoist and load section beam creels with correct end count order.
  • Lay in all reeds and combs following correct lay-in style card.
  • Correctly mix sizing following formulas when needed.
  • Repair lost or broken ends during Slashing process.
  • Make minor adjustments to ensure quality beams are produced.
  • Maintain quality standards and keep work area clean.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Accurately complete paperwork, file charts, and print beam tickets.
  • Assist yarn prep areas as needed.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Maintain excellent attendance.
  • Full-time presence required; overtime and extended shifts/weekends may be required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

  • Work Shift Time: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Job Objective

Produce quality beams for weave operation, following Standard Work Instructions. Maintain safety, quality and delivery standards. Complete necessary paperwork and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions
  • Follow Prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Safely operate hoist and load section beam creels with correct end count order.

  • Ability to correctly repair lost or broken ends that occur during Slashing process.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Excellent attendance required.
