Job summary

DABS, Inc. is seeking a Skills Instructor to work directly with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them build practical skills for independence and community participation.

You will lead person-centered activities, support access to community resources, and accompany participants on outings, documenting progress and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive support.

Qualifications

• Caring and compassionate approach to supporting adults with disabilities.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance; access to a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to undergo fingerprint background checks (state and federal).
• CPR certification and a recent TB test; assistance available if needed.
• Experience with developmental disabilities is a plus; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning activities, and strengthening skills.
• Take individuals on community outings for appointments, errands, or recreation.
• Track and document progress with accurate case notes.
• Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions.
• Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
