Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is seeking Skilled Laborers to join our team across multiple Virginia sites. Work outdoors in all seasons, operate around heavy equipment, and communicate with operators, workers, and pedestrians. You will perform flagging, trench work, erosion controls, site cleaning, and assisting on diverse projects.

Safety gear is provided and must be worn; 18+ and US work authorization required. Base pay ranges from $17 to $25 per hour, with overtime possible.

Qualifications

• Work in outdoor environments in all seasons.
• Be comfortable around heavy equipment and communicate with operators and pedestrians.
• Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces with safety gear.
• Able to lift moderate to heavy weights and use hand/power tools.
• Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging, traffic closures and related tasks.
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, and set braces for excavations.
• Install erosion and sediment controls and manage debris removal.
• Support projects with manual labor as needed and wear PPE.
• Maintain safety culture and positive relations with customers and coworkers.

We hire ambitious and dedicated professionals to fill positions at all levels of our organization.*Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is accepting applications for Skilled Laborers to join our team.**Qualifications:*** Work in outdoor environments in all seasons* Be comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and able to communicate with operators, workers and pedestrians* Be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment and training* Moderate to heavy lifting (more than 15 pounds), pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting on a regular basis* Working knowledge of hand and power tools* Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening**Responsibilities:*** Perform flagging, traffic closures and relevant tasks as assigned.* Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials.* Installation of erosion and sediment controls (i.e. silt fence, super silt fence, gutter buddies, etc.).* Must be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects.* Must wear safety toe boots, long pants and four-inch sleeves on shirts. PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, class 3 vests and gloves) is required and will be provided.* Work on a variety of tasks within any given day.* Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.* Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co-workers.Job Type: Full-Time, Year-RoundLocation: Various JobsitesWorking Hours: Start varies between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM.
