Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company is seeking a Superintendent to manage projects across the DC/MD/VA region. You will schedule and supervise field operations, coordinate materials and crew, and ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery while controlling costs.

The role requires 5+ years in heavy civil construction, strong leadership and communication, and solid knowledge of regulations. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of scheduling, contracts, equipment and manpower.
• Ability to lead field operations with decision making and problem solving.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Understanding of local, state and federal construction regulations.
• HS diploma or equivalent; pass pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, supervise and monitor construction to meet the project schedule and budget.
• Encourage and participate in staff training and development.
• Collaborate with clients and project managers to determine budget and timeline.
• Develop a project schedule, sequence of work, and monitor daily productivity.
• Supervise field workforce to meet safety, production and budget requirements.
• Coordinate materials and equipment delivery for long-lead items on-site.
• Maintain a daily log of operations and report to management as necessary.
• Ensure punch list is completed timely.
