Job summary

The City of Annapolis is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to operate backhoes, dump trucks, street sweepers, bulldozers, and other large machinery. You will follow supervisors' assignments, adhere to safety protocols, and perform routine maintenance.

Applicants must have at least two years' experience, a Maryland Class B CDL, and a high school diploma or GED; snow removal training and emergency overtime availability are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a standard high school course or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Possession of a Maryland Class B CDL.
• Snow removal training must be completed.
• Available for emergency overtime work and emergency callbacks.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy motorized equipment safely under all weather conditions.
• Direct assigned helpers during refuse collection and related routines.
• Perform routine lubrication, preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Follow standard procedures; maintain safety and economy of operation.
• Read and interpret oral/written instructions and equipment manuals.
