Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Works Department is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate a range of medium to heavy construction vehicles and perform laborer duties in road maintenance, utilities, and waste services. The role requires independent work, adherence to safety protocols, and potential supervision of a maintenance crew.

Experience with backhoes, graders, pavers, and dump trucks is preferred. A valid Class B CDL is required, and CDS testing applies.

Qualifications

• Two or more years experience in the operation of medium-duty motor equipment.
• A valid commercial Class B motor vehicle operator's license.
• Safety-sensitive position subject to CDS and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of construction vehicles and equipment for road maintenance and related tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Potentially supervise a maintenance crew or inmates and temporary labor.
• Respond to work emergencies and schedule requirements beyond normal hours.
• Assist mechanics with equipment repairs and inspections.
