Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate conventional, CNC, and center machines to fabricate metallic parts according to blueprints.

You will read specs, select tools and fixtures, adjust speeds and feeds, run trials, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and perform routine maintenance. Prior CNC programming/setup is preferred; physical requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1–2 years related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and measurements.
• CNC programming and setup experience preferred.
• Physically capable of standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, specs, or samples to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Program or select machine functions to create parts per blueprint.
• Measure, mark, and verify dimensions on material or workpiece.
• Set up fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
• Adjust speed, feed, coolant, and depth of cut as required.
• Run machining center, load/unload parts, and monitor operation.
• Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and indicators per chart.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines.
