Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years related experience or training.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic measuring tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; previous CNC programming/set-up experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines to fabricate metallic parts.
• Studies blueprints and specs to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
• Programs functions to create parts per blueprint by selecting fields for part and tool setup.
• Measures, marks, and scribe dimensions on material as guides for machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures fixtures, tools, and materials on machines.
• Calculates and sets controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
• Runs trials to verify machine settings and programmed data control.
• Operates machining centers: prepping, loading, starting, monitoring, adjusting, unloading parts.
• Grinds, files and sands machined parts; cleans parts.
• Performs first-piece and in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, indicators.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance and logs maintenance.
