Job summary

Lehigh University is seeking a Maintenance Technician in the Facilities department to perform skilled building maintenance and repair across the Bethlehem campus under general supervision. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of work-related experience in building maintenance or a closely related trade.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to read work orders and apply the right materials and tools.
  • Comfort working both in a team and independently with minimal oversight.
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving on the job.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a facilities or institutional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair tasks across campus buildings, including mechanical, structural, and general facilities work.
  • Apply working knowledge of materials, tools, and equipment appropriate to each task.
  • Identify maintenance issues promptly and carry out effective repairs with minimal rework.
  • Interpret and action work orders accurately, ensuring tasks are completed to standard.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to reduce unplanned failures.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, minimizing disruption to campus operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any follow-up requirements.
  • Operate independently when required, prioritizing safety and quality throughout.
  • Collaborate with Facilities colleagues to coordinate scheduling and share technical knowledge.
