Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for SkillBridge with 180 days or fewer before separation.
• Military experience in mechanical/technical/maintenance fields preferred (e.g., wheeled/tracked vehicle maintenance).
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and follow detailed repair procedures.
• Willingness to learn manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools and software.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform shop tasks.
• Strong work ethic, safety commitment, and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains under supervision.
• Completes preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service on heavy equipment.
• Reads and interprets technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
• Uses diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify equipment issues.
• Documents work performed, parts used, and labor hours in the shop management system.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area per safety standards.
• Communicates professionally with technicians, managers, and customers regarding equipment status and repairs.
• Participates in on-the-job training and shadows experienced technicians across equipment specialties.
• Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
