Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. in Texas is offering a DoD SkillBridge Heavy Equipment Service Technician/Mechanic internship. This program provides supervised, hands-on training diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment.

Interns gain civilian- recognized technical skills while learning shop operations, safety standards, and customer service practices. The internship offers full training, potential for growth, and the possibility of moving into a full-time Shop Service

Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program with 180 days or fewer remaining before separation.
• Military experience in a mechanical, technical, or maintenance-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains under technician supervision.
• Completes preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service work on heavy equipment.
• Reads and interprets technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service bulletins.
• Documents work performed, parts used, and labor hours in the shop management system.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area following safety standards.
