Job summary

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. offers a DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members to gain hands-on experience in heavy equipment service and repair.

Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for participation in the DoD SkillBridge program with 180 days or fewer remaining before separation.
• Military maintenance experience preferred (e.g., wheeled or tracked vehicles, power generation, or similar).
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and follow repair procedures.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains under supervision.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service work on heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
• Use diagnostic software and tools to identify issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area and document work performed.
