Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. offers a DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members to gain hands-on experience with heavy equipment service and diagnostics.

The program provides paid, supervised training at no cost to the service member or DoD, with the potential to move into full-time employment as a Shop Service Technician upon separation. Interns work in a highly productive shop, receive uniforms, boots, and safety gear, and benefit from a comprehensive benefits package,

Qualifications

• Active-duty DoD SkillBridge participant with ≤180 days before separation.
• Military mechanical/maintenance background preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and follow detailed repair procedures.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment under supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service work.
• Read wiring diagrams and service bulletins.
• Use diagnostic software and tools to identify issues.
• Document work, parts, and labor in the shop system.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and ensure on-site attendance.
