Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. is offering a DoD SkillBridge internship for transitioning service members to gain hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment.

You will work under supervision in our shop, learning Kirby-Smith standards, shop operations, and customer service practices. The role emphasizes safety, continuous training, and potential career growth within the company as a path to full-time opportunities after separation.

Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for SkillBridge participation with 180 days or fewer before separation.
• Military experience in a mechanical/maintenance-related field preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals and follow repair procedures.
• Willingness to learn manufacturer diagnostics tools and software.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on heavy construction and industrial equipment under supervision.
• Document work performed, parts used, and labor hours in the shop system.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area per safety standards.
• Communicate equipment status and repairs with technicians, service managers, and customers.
