Job summary

Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska, is seeking a qualified Ski Patrol – Level 2 to join our safety-focused team on the mountain. You will perform advanced patrol duties, lead training, and coordinate rescue operations, with emphasis on avalanche rescue, tower climbing, and lift evacuation responsibilities.

Requirements include Outdoor Emergency Care or Alaska EMT-1, CPR-BLS, Avalanche Pro 1, and a minimum of three ski patrol seasons, plus Level II sign-offs.

Qualifications

• Meets all qualifications and competency requirements of Ski Patrol Level I.
• Possesses a current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or Alaska EMT-1 certification or higher.
• Possesses a current CPR Basic Life Support certification appropriate for the employee’s medical certification.
• Possesses an Avalanche Pro 1 Certification.
• Has a minimum of three seasons of ski patrol experience.
• Possesses an IC-S-100 certificate or higher.
• Demonstrates knowledge of Alaska Skier Safety Act and Alyeska procedures.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Dispatch, Aid Room ops, avalanche/missing-person management.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties and operational expectations of Ski Patrol Level I.
• Independently handles opening, operating, emergency response, and closing tasks.
• Demonstrates knowledge of terrain, facilities, lifts, and evacuation plans.
• Performs and teaches sweep procedures for main and outer terrain.
• Coordinate with close supervisor on daily operations.
• Dispatch duties with radio, phone notifications, incident logging, and safety protocols.
• Aid Room duties including patient transfers and equipment restocking.
• Supervise work-run assignments and lead projects and training.
• Maintain Alyeska instructor status in at least two patrol disciplines.
• Mentor patrollers and provide feedback on skills and performance.
• Advanced avalanche rescue and hasty team leadership when qualified.
• Lift evacuation leadership and rope/tower rescue duties as signed off.
• Contribute to incident investigations and safety documentation.
