Job summary

Mt. Rose Development Company in Reno, NV is seeking mountain safety staff for Mountain Safety & Emergency Services. The role requires EMT-B, CPR, and strong skiing/snowboarding abilities to respond to guests and incidents on the slopes.

You will provide first aid, transport injured guests, perform incident investigations, and assist with avalanche control and on-mountain safety. Excellent English communication and customer service skills are essential in a fast-paced resort environment.

Qualifications

  • EMT-B certification required by Nevada EMS or National Registry with ability to obtain NV EMT.
  • CPR for professional rescuer certification required.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and organizational abilities.
  • Compassionate demeanor able to assist injured or distressed guests.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, reduce and eliminate hazards on ski runs via signing and flagging.
  • Provide first aid and transport for injured guests and staff.
  • Complete incident reports and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Provide courtesy transportation to non-injured guests.
  • Provide search and rescue, avalanche rescue, and lift evacuation.
  • Avlanche control and snow safety evaluations as required.
  • Promote safe on-mountain behavior per Skier Responsibility Code.
  • Clock in/out to ensure accurate work hours.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong skiing and/ or snowboarding abilities, capable of traveling safely and efficiently through all snow conditions.
  • EMT-B - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Certified by Nevada EMS or National Registry with ability to get NV EMT.
  • Current CPR for professional rescuer card
  • ATF clearance as an Employee Possessor
  • Excellent English communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • A compassionate demeanor in which to aid and assist injured or distressed guests.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize tasks.

CONTACTS

  • INTERNAL: Managers and assistant managers of all Mt. Rose departments. Some staff level interaction if employee accidents occur.
  • EXTERNAL: Resort customers, NDF, NLTFPD, REMSA, Washoe County Sheriff & EMS Offices

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and enforce safe "on mountain" behavior as it applies to the Skier Responsibility Code.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other departments as necessary in the completion of the above essential duties.
  • Provide information and answer questions about the resort to resort guests.
  • Any other duties that may contribute to the cleanliness, orderliness and overall efficiency of the entire operation and all of the tasks contained therein.
